Itanagar, Mar 25: The Arunachal Pradesh Reformer Forum (APRF) has called upon the state government to take urgent measures to resolve critical socio-political issues affecting the indigenous communities of the state.
During the press briefing on Tuesday, the APRF emphasized concerns over unemployment, language preservation, and the safeguarding of cultural identity. The forum demanded 100% job reservation for Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) candidates in government positions, as well as the mandatory inclusion of local tribal dialects as a third language in competitive examinations, including the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC).
An APRF representative stated, "We have made progress in our intervention regarding the Gramin Daak Sevak issue, ensuring recognition of tribal languages. However, several discrepancies remain unresolved, requiring immediate government action."
The forum has also called for the removal of the 20% job reservation for non-APSTs, arguing that it adversely affects local employment opportunities. Additionally, the APRF expressed concerns over delays in the implementation of domicile certification regulations, insisting that non-APSTs who migrated to Arunachal Pradesh after 1947 should not be issued domicile certificates.
Further, the forum urged the people of Arunachal Pradesh to actively preserve and promote their traditional cultures, warning that the failure to do so could lead to a loss of indigenous identity. They called upon media houses, civil society organizations, and student unions to support these demands, assuring that their recommendations would be presented before the state government in the upcoming winter session.
