YACHULI, Jan 21: A joint inspection by the Forest Department and District Administration was conducted by a team consisting of Divisional Forest Officer(DFO), Hapoli , Abhinav Kumar, IFS, Extra Assistant Commissioner, Yachuli, Tana Yaho, Range Forest Officer, Yachuli and Officials of the Yachuli Forest Range at Khasi pine plantation area near Jath village under Yachuli Circle. These Khasi pine plantations were established in the region in the 1970s.
It was observed by the officials that the people of neighbouring villages have been encroaching the plantation area even though the matter is presently under consideration in the CJM Court Ziro as per Offence Reports raised against the offenders by the Forest Department. The inspection was conducted under the direction of the DFO after information was received from the local residents about spread of encroachments.
Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) Tana Yaho appealed to the people to refrain and from such illegal activities which may cause public nuisance and also discouraged hunting of wild animals and birds.
Meanwhile, Abhinav Kumar,Divisional Forest Officer lauded the efforts of the subordinate staff towards restricting such activities. He informed that action will be initiated against those involved in encroaching. Further, the Forest Department will reclaim the affected land and a plantation drive will be initiated shortly.
DFO Abhinav Kumar cautioned people against such illegal activities and informed that a series of forest fire awareness programmes will be conducted at different villages in the Yachuli area in the coming weeks. DIPRO
