PASIGHAT, Nov 22: A film ‘Community & Conservation-Working Hand in Hand’ jointly produced by WWF-India and Sony India highlighting the work in Western Arunachal Pradesh undertaken in partnership with the community members under the Community Conserved Areas model work towards conserving the Red Panda habitat was screened at New Delhi recently.
Attending the film screening programme as one of the panellist on panel discussion on conservation of Red Panda, its habitat and community conserved areas in Arunachal Pradesh, Pekyom Ringu, Director, NEIFM, Pasighat, Dept of AYUSH, Govt. of India, former DCF, Wildlife, PCCF office, Itanagar suggested WWF India to scale up doing more works in West Siang, Upper Siang and Dibang Valley districts.
Ringu, who has been one of the most knowledgeable and collaborative officer from the Government of Arunachal Pradesh in conservation works of WWF-India at Western Arunachal was invited at New Delhi on November 13 last as one of the panellist for a panel discussion on ‘Saving the Red Panda: what needs to be done’. Ringu's experience sharing on how promotion of traditional medicine could help in securing livelihood of local communities in the Community Conserved Areas was an interesting aspect in the discussion, sources informed.
The panel discussion was moderated by Ms. Gargi Rawat, Journalist, NDTV, wherein other co-panelists, Ravi Singh, Secretary General & CEO of WWF-India and Prosenjit Ghosh, National Head, Playstation, Member, SID CSR, Environment Division, Sony India were also present.
