Governor chairs high-level security review meeting
ITANAGAR, Mar 26:The seven day faculty development programme on rural community engagement jointly organized by National Council of Rural Institutes and NSS Cell & Department of Social Work Rajiv Gandhi University successfully concluded today. Altogether 18 faculties from seven north-eastern states attended the programme.
The FDP programme primarily focused on the development of curriculum for transacting rural community engagement in higher education.
Addressing the participants in the valedictory program today, Vice Chancellor RGU, Prof Tamo Mibang urged the participants to start framing courses relevant to the rural studies with focus on practical components. Mibang also highlighted the plight of the rural communities especially due to migration of the rural youths to urban areas in search of employment opportunity
Prof.RBS Verma delivered the keynote address wherein he emphasized on Social, Economic and Environmental concerns of sustainability in rural areas.
Finance Officer, Prof. Amitava Mitra, threw light on various policies of the successive government in leveraging the rural sector, while Ashwin Kumar of NCRI spoke on National Rural Management Education Campaign and National Rural Engagement Campaign.
The participants were earlier taken for field visits to Hija village (Ziro) and Lekha and Tomru village as part of rural immersion programme in the FDP.
