ITANAGAR, Mar 13: A fire broke out in the canteen’s kitchen of Heema Hospital on Friday evening, reportedly due to an LPG gas leakage, triggering panic in the hospital premises.
The incident occurred around 4:30 pm, following which personnel from the Arunachal Pradesh Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the spot and swiftly launched firefighting operations.
According to Fire & Emergency Officer-Itanagar, Koj T Gambo, hydrant systems of both the hospital and the fire department were used to control the blaze. The prompt response of firefighters and the presence of safety measures at the hospital helped contain the fire in time and avert a major mishap.
In an official statement, the hospital authority said the situation was quickly brought under control and the safety of patients, attendants and staff was given top priority. All necessary safety protocols were immediately activated and patients were safely shifted wherever required.
The hospital further confirmed that no casualties were reported in the incident. Following the situation, the hospital’s CMD personally visited patients in the wards to check on their well-being and reassure them.
The hospital management also expressed gratitude to doctors, staff and the Fire & Emergency Services team for their swift response and cooperation in managing the situation.
