ITANAGAR, Mar 13: The Former Legislator’s Welfare Association (FLWA) has welcomed the Budget 2025-26, presented by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who also holds the Finance & Planning portfolio. The association praised Chief Minister Pema Khandu for delivering a progressive and inclusive budget that prioritizes the welfare of the people and the overall development of Arunachal Pradesh.
The FLWA, in its press statement, acknowledged the Chief Minister’s leadership, highlighting that the budget reflects a strong commitment to reform, innovation, and economic growth. The association expressed its gratitude to both the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister for their visionary approach, enthusiasm, and dynamic governance, which have been instrumental in shaping this year’s budget.
A major highlight of the budget is the increase of ₹6,000 for all categories of non-regular government employees, which is seen as a crucial step in improving their welfare. The government’s focus on investing in people, infrastructure, economy, and innovation has been widely appreciated as a move toward holistic development. The decision to allocate ₹1,000 crore for district-level development through a bottom-up approach is expected to enhance local governance and effective planning, stated FLWA.
The association further added that the proposal to introduce third-party monitoring for development schemes will ensure transparency and efficiency, while the establishment of a Budget Announcement Monitoring Cell at the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) is regarded as a significant measure for accountability. Additionally, the increase in the number of secretaries from the Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service (APCS) cadre is expected to ease administrative workload and improve governance.
Reforms in the education sector have also been highlighted as a remarkable step forward. The government’s emphasis on quality over quantity, including the closure of non-functional schools and an allocation of ₹3,000 crore to the education department, is expected to bring about significant improvements in the state’s education system, stated a release.
