ITANAGAR, Jul 22: The East Kameng Social Welfare and Cultural Organisation (EKSWCO) stressed on the completion of the vital 81km long Seppa –Chayangtajo road project.
Speaking to the media, Vice-Chairperson EKSWCO cum liaisoning chairman, Chaong Yangda said that the organisation has been monitoring and dealing with the matter from the very beginning and will continue to do the same.
Expressing concern over the delay of the project, Yangda informed that more than Rs 170 crore has been sanctioned for the said 81 km long Seppa- Chayang Tajo road project.
"The project was first sanctioned in 2008 under North East Council (NEC) with an initial amount of Rs 100 crore later in 2014-15 additional Rs 72 crore was allotted for the same project. Interestingly as per the department concerned, now only Rs 19 crore is left but the road is yet to be started," he said.
Yangda further informed that EKSWCO will extend support to the student's body East Kameng District Students Union (EKDSU) in their similar demand for immediate completion of the said road.
EKSWCO has submitted a three point resolution to the Chief Minister Pema Khandu seeking his intervention in the matter for early completion of the aforesaid road on February 10 last. He further appealed to the state government to look into the matter seriously at the earliest so that the construction work continues without any obstacles.
The entire people of the district are frustrated with the bad road condition of the mentioned road that connects at least two ADC headquarters and five CO circles. The delay in construction may lead to democratic moments by some youths and organisations and team EKSWCO have to stand by them as they are part of a team EKSWCO, stated the Vice-Chairperson.
