NAMSAI, Jul 20: In a strong move to safeguard students and maintain discipline in educational institutions, the Office of the Deputy Director of School Education (DDSE), Namsai District, has issued a strict circular prohibiting the accommodation of labourers and workers within school premises.
The directive, issued on July 11, follows a serious incident at one of the Government Secondary School (GSS) in the district, where a labourer allegedly sheltered on campus was involved in an illicit relationship with a female student, culminating in an elopement. The affair reportedly developed without the knowledge of the school authorities or the student's parents, sparking concerns over student safety and the integrity of the learning environment.
The circular, signed by Dy. Director of School Education, Pokdey Yomgam, highlights that such incidents “create an insecurity and massively disrupt the teaching-learning environment” across the district.
School heads—including Principals, Headmasters, and In-Charges of all government primary to higher secondary schools in Namsai—have been directed to take immediate steps to ensure that no unauthorized person, contractor, or labourer is allowed to stay or be accommodated within school compounds.
“This is to prevent anti-social activities and to ensure a peaceful and healthy atmosphere for the student community,” the DDSE emphasized, urging strict adherence for the smooth functioning of schools.
