LELLUNG/ SEPPA, Apr 30: It was a day to rejoice for the villagers of Lellung under Bana Circle of East Kameng since after several decades of formation of the district, the dream for a motorable road that would link the village with the rest of the state was finally fulfilled.
Minister, Sports & Youth Affairs, WRD etc. Mama Natung who is also the local MLA today inaugurated the road in presence of the members of Lellung Development Committee (LDC), DC, DFO  and others.
Addressing the villagers, Natung reiterated that the state government is committed to provide better road connectivity and other communication facilities in every village of the state. He said that as a local representative it was his top priority to ensure road communication to the village and also assured to provide electricity connectivity by next year. “A directive has been issued to the concerned department for electrifying the village,” he added. However, the Minister while drawing attention to landslide vulnerability of the road during monsoon, appealed to the executing RWD department to expand it along the narrow stretches. With a population of 300+, the village which is around 31 km from the district headquarters Seppa so far remained unconnected from it resulting in various developmental problems.
“Development should start from villages with every means of communication and connectivity. I am committed towards development of my constituency, my district and the state as a whole,” the Minister said, adding that every state and central scheme should reach the grassroots level. Natung appealed to the locals to create conducive environment for timely realization of developmental projects. Beside electrification of Lellung village, there are also a couple of villages in Seppa 11th West AC constituency needing road connectivity, Natung observed. While asserting East Kameng’s agri-horti potentialities, he said that once the agriculture and horticulture institute is set up in the district, major reforms will follow and unemployed youths will get opportunities for income generation.

On the sidelines, the Minister also appealed to the villagers to protect wildlife by discouraging hunting.  HGB Nabam Rangmo and LDC Chairman Maji Rangmo thanked the minister for keeping his assurance of connecting the village through a motorable road.
Among others, Deputy Commissioner P Parvimal Abhishek and HoDs were also present during the inauguration.
