PASIGHAT, Jul 1: Joining the rest of the country, Doctors’ Day was celebrated at the Pasighat Bakin Pertin General Hospital (BPGH) on Thursday. The day is celebrated in India on 1st July to honour the legendary physician and former Chief Minister of West Bengal, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. He was born on 1 July, 1882, and died on the same date in 1962.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kinny Singh congratulated the doctors on the occasion. “Doctors are like Messiah to their patients, especially in this challenging time of the Covid-19 pandemic and I thank and acknowledge their invaluable work," pshe stated.
At BPGH, the day was celebrated in a unique and meaningful way. The doctors of the hospital contributed Two Lakhs from their hard earned money and handed over to Women Against Social Evils (WASE) mothers through the Jt. DHS (T&R) Dr. Dukhum Raina in solidarity in their fight against the drug menace in the district. Mementos and letter of appreciation was also handed over by the Medical Superintendent Dr. YR Darang to the WASE group. 
JDHS Dr. Raina lauded the selfless efforts of the WASE mothers in fighting a difficult battle against the drug menace and hoped that this amount would be helpful in their work. DMO Dr Kaling Dai brought forth the humongous problem of drug abuse in the district and the efforts of the health and police departments along with WASE mothers in tackling the problem. 
In her emotional speech WASE General Secretary, Joya Tasung Moyong narrated WASE’s journey against great odds in this fight against drugs and alcohol, many times even at personal security risks. "We are given many names like, Taliban, Gulab Gang, Red Army, Parallel Government etc but we are none of these. We are simple mothers who always wait till next morning for our sons and daughters to return home every day. We are mothers protecting our children from this cancerous evil of drug abuse”, added Moyong. DIPRO
