ZIRO, Jul 14: Divisional Forest Officer, Hapoli Forest Division Abhinav Kumar on Tuesday convened a meeting with the members of Tale Eco Development Committee (TEDC), Pange here at his office to discuss issues relating to wildlife protection, biodiversity conservation, eco-tourism etc.
Highlighting the committee’s importance in the above aspects, the DFO said that the EDCs were set up with the twin objectives of protecting wildlife and realising biodiversity goals which will further allow the local communities to reap the benefits of eco-development activities as laid out in Indian Forest Act, 1927, Wild Life (Protection) Act,1972 and Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 etc. The DFO also informed the members that there are no plans by the Hapoli Forest Division to build an alternative road to Tale Valley. Eco-tourism activities and land cutting issues at Tale valley were also discussed in detail in the meeting. TEDC, Pange constituted in 2020 will soon be registered under Society Registration Act, 1860, the DFO informed. The committee’s Chairman Hage Dolo, Member Secretary N.Tachang, RFO Tale Wildlife Range and executives members attended the meeting. Talley Valley is a wildlife sanctuary cum bio-diversity hotspot located at a distance of 35 kms from Ziro. With sub-tropical and alpine forests and a variety of flora and fauna, many of which are endangered, the place also offers great trekking opportunities. It is pertinent to add that the Pleioblastus Simone bamboo variety is only found in the valley which is also the home to the highly endangered species like clouded leopard. DIPRO
