Roing, Oct 8: A defunct Vehicle Pollution Testing Centre was reopened today at Roing.The centre has been opened by the North East Environment Engineer & Consultant (NEEEC), a government authorised agency, at Meka.
While speaking on the occasion, DTO S. Tayang informed that as per the MV Act 1988 U/S 190 Sub Section 2, any person who drives or causes or allowed to be driven in any public place a motor vehicle, which violates the standard prescribed in relation to air pollution shall be liable for punishment. 'So it is mandatory for every vehicle owner to have a valid PUC certificate to comply with the prescribed emission norms,' he said adding that vehicles without such certificate are liable to be prosecuted under the motor vehicle act.
