 PASIGHAT, Jun 6: Deputy Commissioner cum District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Tamiyo Tatak chaired a coordination meeting with the member officers, military officers and councillors of Pasighat Municipal Council today to review the status of preparedness for dealing with any natural disaster that may occur due to the south-west monsoon this year. 

Tatak reviewed the issues related to monsoon preparedness, including disaster management plans, and emphasized on greater co-ordination among various government departments, municipality and defense wings like GREF, Army and NCC etc. He thoroughly discussed on various measures and good practices being adopted by the DDMA to address disaster management related issues like awareness anddissemination mechanism,flood relief measures, readiness and availability of equipment and communication systemsto tackle the disastrous situations, community based disaster management and coordinated approach for disaster response at the district level to minimize the loss of precious human lives and properties. 

Saying East Siang is prone to various types of natural disasters mainly due to its rugged and steep topography and fragile geological condition, Tatak reviewed future rescue operation plans, identification of vulnerable areas and safe and open fields, crisis management plan etc. 

Among others, ADC (Hq) Taddo Borang, CC(PMC) Kaling Doruk, DDMO Ganden Tsomu and representatives of defense wing also shared their views and suggestions.
