ITANAGAR, May 12: Taking cognizance of the complaints currently doing rounds on social media regarding poor services and high rates at CCC Lekhi, Capital Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom today visited the centre to take stock of the actualities.
Briefing the media after the visit, the DC clarified that allegations regarding unavailability of hot water for the inmates is completely false as the complainant had himself taken the same electric kettle provided to him at CCC Lekhi to DCHC Midpu. While stating that such basic facilities are available to every individual admitted to the CCC, the DC informed that the particular inmate wanted to avail home isolation which was not feasible and was thus brought to CCC Lekhi, however, after developing difficulties he was shifted to DCHC Midpu. In response to the allegation brought by the said inmate regarding high rates, the DC informed that charges have already been reduced to Rs 300 per day which are being utilized to pay the sanitary staff and for other miscellaneous expenses necessary to run the centre. He reiterated that the District Administration is trying its best to keep the charges as low as possible for the convenience of inmates.
Despite the allegations, all charges for the dissatisfied inmate were also waived off after discussion with the DMO solely on humanitarian ground as he falls in Divyangjan category, the DC informed, adding that proper medical care has been provided to him, now under treatment at DCHC Midpu. The DC has further requested the capital denizens not to pay heed to such rumours. “CCC Lekhi can accommodate up to 1200 patients and those not having home isolation facilities like separate room and bathroom can come forward and avail the facility,” he said, while appealing all to fight the Covid 2.0 war unitedly.
