KHONSA, Aug 19: Tirap deputy commissioner and chairman of Tirap Community Resource Management Society, NERCORMP, PN Thungon visited the project today to personally monitor and assess the activities implemented under NERCORMP. He was accompanied by Er. Likwang Lowang, Assistant Engineer, RWD and Ruzing Bellai, Project Director of NERCORMP, Tirap & Longding districts and others. 

The Monitoring & Evaluation team led by the Deputy Commissioner visited the NERCORM project villages comprising of Lapnan, Kheti and Thinsa to oversee the status of the project activities such as Piggery, Fishery, Rural infrastructures, plantations such as Kiwi, Large Cardamom, Avocado, Walnut, Banana, Parkia, Litchi and cultivation of crops such as Pineapple, Potato etc. 

The visit in project villages was followed by interaction with women Self Help Groups (SHGs) promoted by the project. 

While interacting with the SHGs, he highlighted important social issues of women empowerment & society such as education, health & hygiene, construction of toilets, the menace of opium addiction and drugs, child immunization & vaccination, pre-natal care, etc. 

The Deputy Commissioner is the Chairman of the NERCORMP District Society, expressed his full satisfaction over the implementation of the project activities in the district and assured to provide all-out support and guidance to make the project beneficial to the needy people of the district in real terms. He advised the project officials to start early documentation of the success stories of the project so that the best practices of the project can be adopted by others.
