ITANAGAR, Dec 28: Taking strong exception against bandh callers, the capital administration today warned the Abotani Clan Organization (ATCO) that they would be dealt with an iron hand and losses incurred during bandh hours will be recovered from them.
Security personnel conducted a flag march in Itanagar to instill a sense of security and reassure the public, this was informed by Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan while addressing media persons at Civil Secretariat’s Press Information Center today.
Also six bandh callers have been taken into preventive custody on Wednesday while most of the office bearers are absconding.
Ruling against the bandh on Friday, he said that all businesses, offices and other establishments will remain open and run as normal days. The DC however categorically warned the ATCO to avoid any kind of illegal activities or else all the losses will be recovered from them.
‘We have already initiated two meetings to talk through their demands; however their resistance proves their ill-intention to disrupt the normal routine of the capital complex,’ stated Dhawan. He further informed that they (bandh callers) would be legally bound to compensate for the
losses incurred during the bandh hours.
Dhawan also informed that transport federation, market community and other establishments have also given their assent to keep their businesses open defying the bandh. ‘We urge the public to come out openly against any anti-social elements who try to disrupt the development process of the state,’ he said.
As a preventive measure all tyre repairing shops have been declared closed, dry day declared, announcements declaring bandh as illegal has been made since Thursday today. Moreover, all petrol pump depots, banks, post office have been directed to remain open.
Earlier, Chief Secretary (In-charge) M Ete also informed that the state government has already declared the bandh as illegal as per the directives of the Supreme Court. He also informed that all government establishments will remain open as usual.
