YINGKIONG, Sep 2: The Solung Festival of Adi was celebrated here at Multipurpose Community Hall with great pomp and gaiety. Satya Gopal, Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh, who is on a three-day tour to Upper Siang district graced the occasion as Chief Guest. 
Later, the Chief Secretary visited Gobuk village where he has inspected the Kiwi garden and attended a local programme. 
The Chief Secretary was accompanied by Minister, Health & Family Welfare, DGP, DIG, Divisional Commissioner, East, Secretary RD & PR, Secretary Industries & Commissioner Excise, Director Health, Joint Director Land Management, Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police.
              

PASIGHAT: The Solung festival celebrated with great pomp and show in all the Adi inhabited villages across the Siang and Dibang valleys besides celebrations in towns and cities at other parts. People also performed rituals for protection from evil spirits and prayed to Doying Bote and Gumin-Soyin for  their blessings. The main highlight of the festival was Ponung dance performance which was done by  women of all age group.
