NAHARLAGUN, Feb 12: A one day state level advocacy meeting with various civil society organizations, faith based organizations, Nehru Yuva Kendra, National Service Scheme and other stakeholders of Covid-19 vaccination was conducted today here at the State Training Hall of the office of the Mission Director, National Health Mission.
The meeting’s objective was to sensitize the stakeholders on COVID vaccination. Director, Health Service Dr M. Lego urged them to disseminate information among common people that the vaccine is safe and effective. Hesitancy in receiving the vaccine is due to ignorance and it’s necessary for all stakeholders to percolate correct information among people to build confidence, he said. Urging the stakeholders to identify the sources and authenticity of messages/information regarding the vaccine before sharing with others, he appealed to them to encourage people in receiving the doses without fear and hesitancy. 
Director, Family Welfare Dr. E. Rumi informed that India is the largest manufacturer of pharmaceutical goods and vaccines globally and all logistics required for COVID vaccine delivery has been provided by the Central government. He urged all to work collectively in the vital task of Covid vaccination.
Representing the World Health Organization (WHO) and NPO-Immunization, Dr. Danish Ahmed gave a detailed presentation on ‘Overview of COVID-19 Vaccination’, speaking at length on its details. Clarifying several queries from the participants, Dr. Ahmed informed that Covid vaccine is still needed for people earlier infected with COVID-19 since the exact level of antibodies in the body is still indeterminable and of temporary nature only. Clarifying about the two versions, Covaxin and Covishield he further informed that since the former is still under trial its production and availability is low compared to the latter which Arunachal Pradesh is using currently. Post-vaccination side effects are very mild for which precautions can easily be taken, Dr. Ahmed reiterated. Consultant, UNICEF Bijay Dungdung spoke on the communication strategies adopted for the vaccination and Consultant,
UNDP Dr. Deepak Mili spoke on Co-WIN, the online platform where details of all eligible beneficiaries are registered prior to vaccination.
Nodal officer, NHM Dr. D. Padung gave updates on COVID vaccination programme in the state and shared the details of beneficiaries who have received the doses so far. Deputy Director, IEC Ongtang Thamphang urged the stakeholders to extend full cooperation in delivering correct information about the vaccine for eliminating fear and hesitancy among common people.
