ROING, May 30:The Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Affairs in collaboration with an NGO, AMYAA conducted a mass consumer awareness programme on Monday at Roing.
During the programme the resource persons spoke on topics like the rights and duties of consumers, consumer’s exploitation and role of producers, etc, besides a demonstration on how weighing instruments are manipulated by unscrupulous traders for making easy money including how to test purity of petrol, LPG net content and its expiry date etc.
Speaking on the occasion, ADC Chesta Yadav exhorted the participants to be aware of their basic consumer rights and warned the trading units not to indulge in unfair trade practices keeping in view the consequences of expiry commodities on the health of the consumers.
Manipulation of weights and measure will not be compromised, added Yadav while requesting the consumers to approach the concern department to report if any irregularities are detected.
She further also directed the officials of to carry our regular inspection in the market, so that rights and interest of the consumer can be protected.
