PASIGHAT, Jun 18:    In a final consultative meeting of district administration with members of BBK, BBYK, ABSU, ABK, Senior Citizen, Ex-bureaucrats, PRI leaders, MLA and MP in regard to renaming of General Hospital, Pasighat as Bakin Pertin Memorial General Hospital, Pasighat, a partial modification to earlier notification was suggested to the state government.

The meeting which was held at DC’s conference hall recently, finally resolved for partial modification by renaming the General Hospital, Pasighat as Bakin Pertin Memorial Institute of Health, Training & Research Centre, Pasighat instead of Bakin Pertin General Hospital, Pasighat as notified earlier. It was also noted in the meeting that, renaming of any institute or installation of any statue in government establishment or road naming etc. should be made by the government after obtaining popular public mandates and duly forwarded by concern Dy. Commissioner of the district in near future.

While clarifying the stance of the Bogong Banggo Kebang on renaming issue of General Hospital, Pasighat to this scribe, General Secretary BBK, Mongol Gao, said that they are not against any individual but are against the process by which notification was issued without the knowledge of local bodies including MLA and MP. “We are being openly criticized and abused on social media by many without knowing the fact and ground reality. BBK is not against any individual or clan or regional, rather we are against the process of renaming as it was done without the knowledge of bona fide citizens of the area, even local MLA and MP was also not made known of the process”, added Mongol Gao. However, BBK has finally agreed upon partial modification of the name which was also widely accepted and resolved during the consultative meeting.

Meanwhile, in a recent submission of 3 points memorandum to Chief Minister, BBK has appealed for prior obtaining of popular public mandate forwarded by concern Dy. Commissioner for renaming the under construction Pasighat Stadium as ‘Bogong Banggo Stadium’ for general interest of public and naming of under construction Civil Terminal, ALG Pasighat as ‘Abo Tani Civil Terminal, Pasighat’  for the general interest of the state as a whole.
