ITANAGAR, Oct 5: Private colleges running in Arunachal Pradesh without proper documents, violating UGC, National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and other authorities’ norms may face the consequences if they won’t take corrective measures within the stipulated time frame, warned Chairperson, Arunachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission (APPEIRC), Marnya Ete.
Chairing the first meeting of the APPEIRC with various private colleges running in the state, Ete directed the college authority to follow all laid down norms to maintain quality education. He also informed that the commission won’t tolerate any lackadaisical attitude towards the norms of the New Education Policy and any kind of attempt to compromise with the quality of education.
While speaking to the media, the Chairperson also said that colleges running their institution for only commercial purposes and compromising the quality education will have to face the consequences. “As per the Commission’s powers & functions, we can penalise as well as also issue shutdown notices to any college not following the laid down norms and jeopardizing the future of students,” he said.
APPEIRC team plans to visit the 19 private colleges in the state every three months for physical verification to see the ground reality and also hold meetings with the head of colleges to take updates on their performances and other necessary processes of the institutions. Member, APPEIRC- Prof.(Dr.)Debabrata Das expressed concern over many colleges failing to meet the guidelines of the New Education Policy and urged them to rectify it within the stipulated time frame. He also directed the college authority to maintain the Teacher-students ratio as well as the qualification of teachers for imparting quality education in their respective colleges.

Secretary APPEIRC Dr. AK Tripathy also spoke on the occasion. Principals, Vice –Principals, Managing Directors of different private colleges of the state attended the first meeting of Arunachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission (APPEIRC) held here today at the Commission’s office.
