TAWANG, Apr 20: On the second day of the ongoing Annual Conference of Superintendents of Police and Commandants in Tawang, issues like drug abuse in the state, women and child related crimes and cyber crimes featured prominently during discussion.
The day started with a presentation by IG Law & Order on the menace of arms proliferation in Arunachal Pradesh and the measures to deal with it. In-depth discussions were held on the issues of pending investigation cases, backlog inquests, heinous cases especially those related to women and children and status of departmental inquiries in disciplinary cases. The current trend in cybercrime cases were also discussed along with the investigation strategies.
Focussing on the issue of drug abuse in the state, DGP RP Upadhyaya affirmed that it is the primary priority of the APP to counter the menace. Deliberations were made on issues like supply routes of synthetic drugs, distribution channels and the SSP/COs tasked to formulate specific strategies to deal with them. The DGP encouraged the officers to speak to their counterparts of the bordering states too for better coordination in intelligence sharing which is essential for cracking drug-related cases.
According to the press communiqué from the APP PRO, discussions were also held over the ongoing and planned projects related to infrastructure development and providing good quality staff quarters and barracks to the APP personnel. Earlier, the State Security Adviser and SSP, TCL region made a presentation on insurgency issues and the ways to deal with them.
The three-day Annual Conference currently on here at the Convention Centre will conclude on April 21, the release mentioned.
