ITANAGAR, May 17:

Chief Minister Pema Khandu today inspected the ongoing construction of convention hall at Indira Gandhi Park along with Urban Development (UD) Minister, Nabam Rebia and UD Parliamentary Secretary, Techi Kaso.

 

The Chief Minister asked the implementing agency, the UD department to complete the construction by December this year while cautioning that failure to do so may attract necessary action from the state government.

 

The project, whose foundation stone was laid in November 2011 with an estimated cost of Rs 3,125 lakh was slated for completion within two years from the date of commencement of work.

 

Taking serious note of the delay, the Chief Minister asked the department officials to gear up the work assuring full support from the government to meet the project deadline. He asked them to work round the clock on shift basis and to depute more manpower and engineers.

 

He said the project is of high importance as the state today lacks facilities to host big conventions.

 

Earlier on arrival at the construction site, the Chief Minister was shown around by departmental engineers. The main hall is expected to have a seating capacity of 500 with basic amenities like restaurants, food court, office with media room, amphitheatre with changing room.

 

The Chief Minister inspected the 100-seat conference hall and two 50-seat conference halls. He took round of the basic amenities like toilet including parking facilities for 300 cars.

 

He further discussed on the construction of 2-lane approach road for the hall assuring to take up with concern body the matter of eviction for the construction of road.
