ITANAGAR, Sep 1:
Chief Minister Pema Khandu today launched the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) of the Arunachal Pradesh division in presence of Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein.
“IPPB services will be available in 10 branches and in 50 access points across Arunachal Pradesh,” said the Chief Minister here at Dorjee Khandu Convention Centre while participating in the nation wide launch of IPPB services by Prime Minister Narendra Modi relayed from Talkotra Stadium, New Delhi.
He said, “IPPB services in Arunachal will be a major booster in reaching the unbanked and underbanked areas of the state. Postmen will provide doorstep banking through mini handheld devices and all the customers will have Aadhar enrolment facilities through them. The transfer of money will be done through biometric and QR code-based card.”
The Chief Minister later during the event handed out two QR code to account holders.
Speaking on other IT initiatives in the state, Khandu said state government has issued more than 2000 digital certificates in the form of PRC, ST, income certificates etc. To make IT services accessible in rural areas, 79 community service centres have been opened. Further, the state govt has provided training to more than 1000 govt employees to impart digital skills.
He also said by December 2021, the state government aims to make all govt offices of deputy commissioners, secretariat, directorates etc paperless through e-office.
BOMDILA: The Bomdila branch and its access points in the district under the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) were launched today at district headquarters Bomdila late in the afternoon.
Launching the IPPB at the auditorium of GHSS Bomdila, MLA cum advisor to CM Japu Deru heaping praises on the Indian Postal service termed it as the backbone of the country since independence.
‘With the introduction of the IPPB, the government under the able and charismatic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has attained another milestone and added another feather to its cap,’ said Japu Deru.
The MLA expressed his optimism that with such a historical step the simplified banking system and its benefit targeted to be delivered to the doorsteps of the people would bring a great respite to the people in the banking sector.
However, he cautioned that the full benefit of the scheme could only be realized only when the people responsible for implementation of the IPPB works with a missionary zeal, vision and commitment for the cause.
Earlier, the Area Operation Manager for IPPB dealt at length on its core issues and opined that IPPB was a solution for all financial transactions.
‘It is a paperless process which can be opened with zero balance and has net banking, DBT, MNREGA, Old age and facilities of cashless transactions among others. Aadhaar card, fingerprints and a mobile number is all that is required, he added.
Later, MLA Japu Deru released the Special Cover and also distributed the QR Cards to the One hundred ten account holders.
However, the much awaited connect to the live national event presided over by the Prime Minister from the Talkatora stadium on IPPB could not materialize due to internet problem.
