ITANAGAR, Jun 21: Chief Minister Pema Khandu today said that he was unaware of the act of the Border Roads Organization on mentioning Kimin as part of Assam and masking of all the signages where Kimin has been mentioned as under Arunachal Pradesh during the visit of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at Kimin on June 17 last.
“I have conveyed the message to the Union Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju that the  error committed by the  BRO has hurt the sentiments of the local people," said the CM while informing that the administration  has been directed to call on the official of the BRO and to seek a detailed report of the incident.
Khandu also asserted that during the ceremony, the Defence Minister didn’t mention Arunachal as part of Assam, but it’s the BRO who created such confusion. "Through MoS Rijiju, we have also briefed the  Defense Minister about the sentiments of the local people. We share at least 716 km boundary. During the programme  Assam Chief Minister Hemanta Biswa Sarma was also present, so we also  had a talk on Assam- Arunachal  boundary for amicable solution of the long-pending issues."
Reacting on the incident, Member of Lok Sabha, (East) Tapir Gao also condemned the BRO for such  blunder and sought an immediate apology to the people of Arunachal Pradesh particularly the denizens of Kimin.
Terming the incident as a big blunder and an act that misguided the Defence Minister of India, Gao urged the  authority to lodge FIR against the  BRO official.
"Programme was held at Kimin, Arunachal and whitewashing (masking) the name of Arunachal is really a blunder and a slap to the people of Arunachal Pradesh; it is Anti Arunachal, Anti-national act. I also appeal to the people of Assam and Arunachal to maintain peace and state government should immediately  take legal action on the officers involved in such blunder," he added.

ITANAGAR: Meanwhile the All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union has taken strong exception today to "masking of Kimin, Arunachal Pradesh" by the Border Roads Organization. AAPSU president Hawa Bagang while speaking to the media today wanted to know whether this act was deliberate or a mistake. He also informed that AAPSU will hold a meeting on Tuesday, post which the union will lodge an FIR.
Hitting out at the Union Defence Minister, Bagang said "If any representative of the Government of India is afraid of China, then they needn't bother to visit the frontier state."
Further, he questioned Chief Minister Pema Khandu's statement and said, "Whereas on June 12, the state government was informed of the June 17 programme. Why wasn't this error rectified?"
AAPSU General Secretary Tobom Dai taking to his Twitter handle said, " The act tantamounts to breach of state sovereignty."
