ANINI, Jan 31: Reaffirming the State Government’s commitment to taking governance to the remotest corners of Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Pema Khandu today announced a series of major development initiatives exclusively for Dibang Valley district following the Cabinet Aapke Dwar meeting held at Anini.
The Cabinet Aapke Dwar initiative is aimed at bringing the government to the doorstep of the people by holding Cabinet meetings outside the State Capital, engaging directly with local communities and district administrations, understanding region-specific challenges, and ensuring prompt decision-making and on-the-spot interventions, particularly in remote and border areas.
As part of this outreach, Khandu announced several infrastructure, education, connectivity, power and livelihood-related projects tailored to the needs of Dibang Valley.
To address the long-standing need for a common public facility, the Chief Minister announced construction of a Community Hall at Rekho, Anini, which will serve as a multipurpose venue for official functions, public meetings, cultural programmes and social events in the district headquarters.
Recognising the strategic and developmental importance of road connectivity, approval was announced for construction of a 15-kilometre road from NH-313 (Amuli Village) to the Anini–Dambuen BRO road up to Aliney, at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crore. The road will significantly reduce travel time, improve civilian movement in the Dri Valley and strengthen strategic connectivity up to the last motorable point at Bruni.
To improve all-weather connectivity for local residents, resurfacing of the NH-313 to Anelih Circle road was announced. The 15-kilometre stretch, which serves as the lifeline of Anelih Circle, is currently in poor condition. Similar resurfacing works were also announced for the road connecting Gipulin village to Acheso village, providing smoother and safer access for villagers.
In order to strengthen technical administration and improve monitoring of developmental works, Khandu announced construction of an office building-cum-residential accommodation for the Executive Engineer, PWD, Anini. The facility will enhance on-ground supervision and expedite project execution in the district.
In the education sector, the Chief Minister announced creation of a Science stream at Government Higher Secondary School, Anini, a major step that will allow students of Dibang Valley to pursue science education locally without migrating outside the district. Additionally, construction of additional classrooms at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Anini was announced to meet the growing demand for quality school education.
Leveraging the district’s unique ecological and climatic advantages, Khandu announced establishment of a High Altitude Medicinal Plant Research Centre in Dibang Valley to promote conservation, scientific research and sustainable utilisation of medicinal plants endemic to the Mishmi Hills. A feasibility study will be undertaken and submitted within three months.
Similarly, recognising the potential for cold-water fisheries, establishment of a High Altitude Trout Hatchery at Anini was announced. The hatchery will support local trout farming by ensuring availability of quality seed and generating high-value livelihood opportunities. A feasibility study for the project will also be completed within three months.
To address power constraints and enhance public safety, the Chief Minister announced installation of solar street lights in Anini township, providing a sustainable lighting solution in view of limited power availability and frequent load shedding.
Khandu further announced that a detailed feasibility study for development of an Advanced Landing Ground (ALG) at Anini will be conducted by an expert team to assess technical and operational viability, keeping in view the district’s strategic location and connectivity requirements.
The announcements made at Anini reflect the government’s resolve to ensure balanced regional development, strengthen border districts, and respond swiftly to local aspirations through direct engagement and decentralised decision-making under the Cabinet Aapke Dwar framework.
