ITANAGAR, Jul 6: State Health Secretary P Prathiban has clarified that the reason for arrival of the Central team of doctors in Arunachal Pradesh to review the Covid-19 situation has been only due to a clerical mistake during data entry that wrongfully projected the state as having a high positivity rate.
Covid situation in Arunachal is not alarming and it’s solely due to a clerical mistake while entering data the central team was deputed, Prathiban said while assuring that the mistake will be rectified within a week.
“The data of positive cases is 24% on the Union Health Ministry’s website, whereas our positivity rate is not more than 6 to 7%. Moreover, our casualty rate is also only 0.7 %,” the Health Secretary added.
Elaborating on the mistake, he said that the data entry operators have missed entering the figures of negative cases that resulted in a high positivity percentage. However, since April last we have less than 7 % positive cases, he said, adding that the peak month was May last when there were at least 550 cases per day which has now come down to 300-400 and will decline further if COVID Appropriate Behaviour is followed by the citizens.
In view of rising COVID-19 cases during the second wave in various states and union territories, the Centre decided to depute doctors’ teams to six states, including Arunachal Pradesh. Manipur, Tripura, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Kerala were the other states where the teams were sent. As per reports, the Union Home Ministry has called a meeting of the Northeast states and a few UTs on July 7 to review the respective Covid-19 situation.
