ITANAGAR, May 26: Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) and Arunachal Pradesh Women's Welfare Society (APWWS), while expressing shock over the assault of a minor girl, have demanded an immediate arrest of the culprits.
The girl currently admitted at TRIHMS was staying with one Lukbi Bojir, a teacher and his wife who assaulted her. On getting the information, APSCPCR Chairperson Gumri Ringu took suo motu cognizance of the case and a team consisting of Commission members Ngurang Achung and Jumtum Minga accompanied by the Centre Administrator, One Stop Centre, Naharlagun and Pakke Kessang visited the victim at TRIHMS. A zero FIR was also lodged with Women Police Station, Itanagar today. The APSCPCR Chairperson said that such inhuman behaviour from a teacher supposed to be an epitome of love and affection is unthinkable, adding that they will continue to pursue the case with the police. APWWS (CEC) Secretary General Kani Nada Maling who was also the Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee, ICR termed the incident very unfortunate. Cases of child abuse is rampant in society and many go unreported and there is necessity for more sensitization of people on child laws, she added.
Meanwhile, the APSCPCR Chairperson has appealed to the citizens to abide by law and inform the Childline toll free number 1098 regarding incidents of child abuse or abandonment. The name of the informer is always kept confidential, she said.
