NEW DELHI, Nov 29: Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, has announced the approval of ₹46.48 crore under the Special Assistance to States/Union Territories for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme to enhance Arunachal Pradesh's tourism infrastructure. The funds will be utilized to develop the Siang Adventure & Eco-Retreat at Pasighat into a globally recognized tourist destination.
The Union Minister in his social media platform X, stated that ‘this initiative is part of a broader national push, with the Government of India approving 40 tourism development projects worth ₹3,295.76 crore across 23 states. These projects aim to strengthen local economies, create employment opportunities, and promote sustainable tourism practices.
Key measures include decongesting popular tourist sites, integrating advanced technologies, adopting sustainable practices, and encouraging public-private partnerships to enhance infrastructure and visitor experiences.
Union Minister Shekhawat further remarked, “These projects will ensure a world-class experience for everyone wishing to explore Bharat’s natural, cultural, and historic grandeur.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also emphasized the transformative potential of tourism, sharing on social media platform X: “Tourism has the potential to bring prosperity to the lives of many. Our Government will keep focussing on enhancing India’s tourism infrastructure to ensure more people can experience the wonders of Incredible India.”
