ITANAGAR, Feb 24: A two-member central disaster management team arrived in the state capital today to monitor and review the statuses of various National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) projects and programmes undertaken in Arunachal Pradesh.
Senior Consultant (NE), NDMA, Dr Suhel Akhtar along with Deputy Chairperson, Training & Capacity, Building Advisory Committee, State Academy of Training, Manipur Tazeem Abbas Rizvi will undertake a two-day tour in the state for the purpose. Accompanied by Secretary, Disaster Management Dani Sulu and Director, Disaster Management Atul Tayeng, Dr Akhtar met Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar and took stock of the progress of all NDMA-sponsored projects, completed and on-going in the state. There were also discussions on the requirement for further projects and programmes specific to the state.
The NDMA official was then called upon by MLA, 59-Longding Pumao Assembly Constituency and Adviser to Minister, Disaster Management Tanpho Wangnaw wherein they discussed the avenues to make the state more disaster resilient. The Central official while visiting the restoration sites within the Capital Complex and Yupia-Doimukh area expressed satisfaction over the works undertaken at ESS Sector (protection wall at block point), restoration and realignment of damaged pipelines at Niti Vihar, dedicated Covid hospital at Midphu and road repair works at the RGU tri-junction and Gumto-JNV school road.
The team will also undertake field inspections of NDMA projects at Pasighat and Tezu.
