ITANAGAR, Feb 27: Department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University, Pasighat organised a day-long training on ‘Popularization, Production and Processing Technologies of Small Millet in Arunachal Pradesh’ including field day practicals for the farmers of Balek village in Lower Dibang Valley district on Friday.
Dean, College of Agriculture, CAU Pasighat inaugurated the training programme at KVK Balek which was sponsored by Indian Institute of Millet Research, ICAR, Hyderabad in presence of Chief Scientist and Head of the KVK Dr Depanjali Deori and ADO, Balek Toktail Modi. Around 50 farmers from various SHGs participated in the training wherein they were suggested to go for commercial cultivation of millets. 60 kg hybrid seeds and 500 kg fertilizers and organic manures were distributed to the farmers which is sufficient to cultivate 10-12 acres of millet lands.
The training was directed by Assistant Professor, Department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture, Pasighat Dr. Pavankumar Goudar. Lectures in the form of PowerPoint Presentations on cultivation, scope, benefits and technologies involved in millet cultivation were delivered by various speakers as part of the training.
