Itanagar, Oct 15 : On the sixth day of the Rising Sun Trek, NCC cadets from 13 states across India, organized under 5 NCC Directorates, embarked on an enriching sightseeing tour of Itanagar, the capital city of Arunachal Pradesh. While the journey offered deep educational and cultural exposure, its true core was to serve as a powerful catalyst for national integration, bringing together young minds from diverse corners of the country to celebrate the enduring bond of Indian unity.
The itinerary—spanning Ganga Lake, Itanagar Zoo, the State Museum, and the local Gompa—offered the cadets a vivid glimpse into the state’s natural beauty, history, and spiritual traditions. Rather than a mere excursion, these visits allowed the cadets to see how Arunachal Pradesh's unique identity forms an integral piece of the larger Indian mosaic, deepening their appreciation for the rich diversity that strengthens the nation.
This spirit of unity was further highlighted during their exploration of Itanagar’s bustling local markets. By engaging directly with local shopkeepers, the cadets, particularly those from outside the Northeast, looked past geographic distances to draw parallels with their own hometowns. The experience beautifully demonstrated that while communities across India may differ in outward customs, language, and surroundings, citizens nationwide share the
exact same core values and sense of national belonging.
The highlight of this cultural bridge occurred as the evening drew to a close. Transforming the camp into a vibrant microcosm of India, cadets from the participating directorates delivered presentations on the heritage and landmarks of their home states, concluding with warm invitations to one another. These exchanges effectively broke down regional barriers, replacing them with lifelong cross-country friendships.
By stepping beyond familiar boundaries, the cadets walked away with a deeply renewed sense of shared national identity. The experience powerfully reinforced the ultimate lesson of the Rising Sun Trek: that despite differences in language, lifestyle, and food, the youth of India remain inextricably bound by shared constitutional values and an unbreakable spirit of national brotherhood.
