ITANAGAR, Sep 18: In a bid raise awareness on noise pollution, Royal Arunachal Riders (RAR), a Bullet Club surrendered at least 15 Aftermarket Silencers to the Itanagar Traffic Police which were destroyed in presence of Deputy Commissioner ICR Talo Potom, Superintendent of Police Jimmy Chiram and Deputy SP (Traffic) N.Jomoh.
Appreciating the initiatives of the RAR, Deputy Commissioner Potom urged the public to surrender or change their aftermarket silencers that create unnecessary noise pollution. “I appreciate the Dy SP Traffic for taking the initiative to streamline the traffic of the capital region. We should not only depend on the police or administration but we have to generate civic sense and follow the traffic rules,” he added.
Law is for everyone, traffic violators will not be spared irrespective of their status, stated the DC. He also informed the parking space in National Highway Package B will be established so that parking issue in the ICR could be solved to some extent.
Superintendent of Police, ICR Jimmy Chiram urged the capital residents to follow traffic rules for easy movement of the traffic. He also cautioned that anyone found using unauthorized or aftermarket silencers that violate the MV Act will be penalized as per the law.
Chief of RAR- R Jomoh informed that at least 15 members of the group have voluntarily surrenders their aftermarket silencers. In view of the traffic rules, we have surrendered it and we also appeal others to do the same for a better environment, he added.
Earlier, DC Talo Potom also felicitated DySP N Jomoh with an appreciation certificate for properly maintaining traffic and imposing traffic rules in the capital region.
