DAPORIJO, Jun 13:The Border Roads organization (BRO) has recently restored the only road link between Upper Subansiri and West Siang by repairing the existing multiple span Bailey Bridge over River Subansiri at Daporijo.

The 25 year old bridge which served as the only link between Upper Subansiri district and neighbouring West Siang was extensively damaged due to the excessive movement of heavily loaded vehicles carrying construction material belonging to private contractors.

However after receiving a request from DC, Upper Subansiri, a team of experts from 77 RCC led by 77 RCC/23 BRTF of Chief Engineer (P) Arunank well equipped with necessary tools and machinery moved to the bridge location immediately and replaced damaged parts with new ones, thereby restoring the bridge for civilian traffic in a record time of two days on June 12 last.

This bridge was handed over to State PWD as part of the Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH) by BRO in 2014, but due to the delay in progress of TAH, this bridge has been in a state of neglect owing to no maintenance being carried out by PWD, BRO release said.
