ITANAGAR, Jul 5: Irked over inordinate delay by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in completing the 100 km Tato-Taliha road in Shi-Yomi district, the residents of Tato today in a representation to Governor Brig. (Dr) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) has sought his intervention for an early completion of the long-pending project.
Making the appeal on behalf of the residents of the area, President, ABK Youth Wing district unit Lipor Ragyor and President, All Kochung Ao Welfare Society (AKAWS), Shi-Yomi Tago Kochung apprised the Governor that the said project near China border involving a 2-lane upgradation and vital to national security is being executed by the BRO, preceded by an assurance of timely completion. The process of giving compensation to the land owners for the 30 km stretch was completed way back in 2014 and as such there were no compensation-related disturbances that might halt the project. However, since the commencement of works, the BRO has only been able to cover 15 km out of the total 100 km and from 2016 onwards all developmental works of the project have been held up. Besides highlighting the slow progress, the representation has alleged that the 15 km completed stretch is already in a dilapidated condition due to lack of regular maintenance and protection measures, resulting in untold hardships for the area’s residents.
With all previous appeals to the concerned authorities yielding no results, the residents have now sought the Governor’s intervention so that necessary actions are initiated for an early completion of the vital road project.
