BASAR, Mar 30: The women’s wing of All Arunachal Pradesh Labour Union (AAPLU) in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (APB & OCWWB) today organised a mega awareness-cum-health camp for the members of the working community of Leparada district here at the Town Club.
More than 500 workers both from organised and unorganized sectors of the district attended the camp. APB & OCWWB Chairman and Talhia MLA Nyato Dukam while addressing the gathering assured that interests of the working community will be upheld. “I have been given the responsibility by the Chief Minister to take care of workers’ welfare and I will always discharge them and those in relation to the activities carried out by the APB&OCWWB,” Dukam said. While stating that benefits of schemes and welfare programmes launched by the Board for the welfare of workers can be availed only by those registered, the APB & OCWWB Chairman urged them to get enrolled. I have been touring several districts specially the newly created ones like Kamle, Shi Yomi and Leparada only to create awareness among the workers and labourers in this regard, he added.
Various benefits of the Board have not been reaching to the labourers due to lack of officials in the districts, the Chairman observed, while informing that that Registering Officers along with supporting staff will be posted in all these districts soon to help the labourers. Referring to the memorandum submitted to him, Dukam assured for the construction of a labour shed, labour office and other requirements in due course on the officially allotted land. Basar MLA Gokar Basar while lauding the Board’s initiative underscored its importance in looking after the needs and aspirations of the working class. AAPLU President Dana Tadu said the union has been active in voicing the welfare needs of the workers for more than 9 years and warned all stakeholders not to resort to the unethical means of collecting donations in the name of the organisation. AAPLU will always take care of the welfare needs of the workers, he assured, while appealing to all sections of the community to get registered with the APB & OCWWB.
