ZIRO, Jun 13:Ziro police has been successful in cracking a blind murder case within just four days. On June 7 last, a semi decomposed dead body identified as Late Pei Takha alias Sukro was found in the jungle area at Pei Village under Yazali Police Station. 

On getting information police team along with magistrate and doctor rushed to the spot and conducted inquest. During inquest a prima facie murder case was established. Accordingly Yazali PS registered a case U/S 302 IPC and constituted a dedicated police team comprising of Inspector Pei Taga CI, SI AN Singh OC Yazali, ASI Licha Taj and party for investigation. The police team immediately swung into action under close supervision of SP Mihin Gambo. 

Initially there was no clue about the murderer. The police gathered information that the deceased was last seen with his friends. Accordingly, on June 8 last, one of the deceased friends Bolen Kalita, 45, was detained at police station on suspicion. On sustained interrogation he indicated involvement of his younger brother Horat alias Sorat Kalita, 37, who already left the place for unknown location to evade police arrest. 

The police team chased the accused with the help of mobile phone tower location. Finally after a manhunt of three days the police team successfully narrowed down and traced him out at Rangia, Assam from where he was arrested with the assistance of Assam police on June 11 last.

On interrogation the accused, Horat Kalita confessed that he along with his elder brother accused Bolen Kalita had murdered the deceased by strangulating him over a petty argument. 

With the arrest of the brother duo, the police have solved the blind murder case within 4 days

SP Mihin Gambo appreciated the police team for their promptness in solving the case.
