YUPIA, Jan 30: As part of commemoration of Martyrdom Day which is observed annually in memory of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign 2021 was launched today at Durpang Health and Wellness Centre.
Participating in the event, Joint Director (NLEP) Dr Rina Das Tabiyo urged all to be aware of leprosy, its symptoms and preventive intervention and the MDT (Multi Drug Therapy) which is available at all health facilities free of cost. Leprosy is a curable disease and not a curse or sin as believed earlier and the need of the hour is to spread more awareness and IECs among people, she added. District Leprosy Officer Dr. Tana Aruna administered the ‘Khust ke Virudh, Aakhri Yudh’ pledge to make Arunachal Pradesh a leprosy-free state. A skin camp was organized wherein Dermatologist from the TRIHMS Dr S Majumder treated people with skin problems.  Leprosy survivors were also felicitated on the occasion wherein they stressed on the need for early diagnosis and treatment. 
DMO ICC Papum Pare Dr. Mandeep Perme and District Consultant NVBDCP, MTS and PMW Dr Dominic Lokam also attended the programme. DIPRO
