NAHARLAGUN, Jan 5: Expressing resentment over the delay in disbursal of 11-month pending salaries, hundreds of employees working with the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) under the Department of Agriculture today staged a dharna here in front of the Directorate of Agriculture office.
Holding placards and banners, the employees working under ATMA from across the state shouted slogans demanding immediate release of their backlog salaries.
Speaking to the media, General Secretary, Arunachal Pradesh ATMA Staff Association (APASA) Mato Hali lamented that for the last 11 months employees haven’t received their salaries which has now made their daily sustenance difficult. “We don’t want to disturb the government, but the lackadaisical attitude has compelled us to resort to the dharna,” Hali said, adding that the APASA besides placing the demand for immediate release of 11-month pending salaries has sought for a permanent solution to irregular disbursement of staff honorarium and payment of 10% annual increment in emolument of functionaries as per ATMA guidelines 2018. Hali further informed that APASA has called off the dharna after being assured by the Department that the matter will be looked after expeditiously. Meanwhile, State Nodal Officer-ATMA K Riram while informing that no official procedures are pending at the director level and all-possible efforts will be made to clear the dues, assured that within weeks the salaries will be cleared.

The SNO also disclosed that as ATMA is a centrally-sponsored scheme, the State-Centre sharing of expenses has a 10:90 ratio.
