SEIJOSA, Feb 22: A landmark moment unfolded in the historic Assam–Arunachal boundary resolution process as the first official border pillar between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam was successfully constructed at Seijosa in Pakke Kessang district.
Describing the day as “historic and transformative”, Health Minister and Local MLA Biyuram Wahge, in his social media account, stated that the milestone marks a concrete and decisive step towards resolving the decades-old inter-state boundary dispute, in line with the spirit and commitments of the Namsai Declaration.
The construction of the first boundary pillar was carried out under the close supervision of a joint team of senior officials from both states to ensure precision, transparency, and mutual consent. Among those present were Deputy Commissioners of Pakke Kessang and Biswanath(Assam), ZPC Pakke Kessang Pani Tayam, SSP Biswanath, Divisional Forest Officers of both states, the Nodal Officer (Survey) from Assam, administrative officers, community leaders, and Gaon Burahs.
Minister Wahge expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for their visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to ensuring lasting peace, clarity, and harmony between the two sister states.
He also extended sincere appreciation to Home Minister Mama Natung, former Chairman of the Regional Committee, and Pijush Hazarika, Chairman of the Regional Committee (Biswanath), for their dedicated efforts in taking forward the boundary resolution process.
Calling the development a “symbol of cooperation, mutual trust, and regional unity,” Waghe said the successful erection of the first border pillar at Seijosa signals a new chapter of peace and strengthened relations between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
