ITANAGAR, Apr 30: Night curfew has been imposed in the Itanagar Capital Region beginning May 1 amid surge in Covid-19 cases.
Night curfew will be in place from 9pm to 5am daily within the Itanagar Capital Region except for the movement of emergency and essential services and other exemptions.
The decision was taken following an emergency meeting convened by the Deputy Commissioner Itanagar Capital Region, Talo Potom with all the Corporators in the presence of MLA Itanagar Techi Kaso to discuss immediate measures needed to stop the spread of Covid-19.
The MLA stressed that with the unprecedented surge in the COVID-19 positive cases, priority should be on availability of ventilators and oxygen at the Covid Hospitals. We should move together with the Abhiyan to make our Capital safe from the virus, he said.
He assured his cooperation to the District Administration, the Police, Medical team and the Corporators while stressing that all should work together jointly in this fight.
The Deputy Mayor Biri Basang also expressed his cooperation on behalf of the team of Corporators.
The DC said that the meeting has been called to look into lacunae if any and sought constructive suggestions from the MLA, SP, DMO and the IMC. He also stressed that it is high time that the seriousness of the situation has to be realised by the people and COVID appropriate behaviour has to be followed by all. While seeking cooperation from the Corporators, the DC also asked them to help with shortage of manpower as and when required.
The SP Jimmy Chiram said that focus has been put at all the entry points to check the entry of people for testing etc. He also said that the Capital Police is all geared up to implement the Night Curfew and stressed that public cooperation is the need of the hour. The DC also asked him to monitor law and order especially during the curfew. Earlier, the DMO Dr Mandip Perme informed that Night Curfew is the need of the hour to stop the chain of transmission. As cases in ICR are rapidly increasing, he sought cooperation of the Corporators to aware people of their respective wards to follow the SOPs strictly. He also informed that oxygen plant and additional 164 more beds are going to be added to DCH Chimpu at the earliest.
Er Tadar Tarang, EE IMC also highlighted the sanitation activities that need to be carried out during the pandemic.

ITANAGAR, Apr 29: Arunachal’s Covid situation saw hardly any improvement on Friday with the addition of 163 new cases, taking the state’s active Covid tally to 1226. Concern for the ICR and LDV remained as the duo recorded the highest number of infections among the new cases- 47 and 28 respectively. So far as recoveries are concerned, no substantial improvement was noticed and from the previous day’s 47 it was 49 today with most cases coming from ICR and LDV- 22 and 13 respectively, taking the state’s recovery/discharge count to 17134. 3363 samples were collected on the day from across the state with bulk collections from the troubled districts such as ICR, Papum Pare and LDV among others like the previous days. As of Friday, in the ICR there were 315 active Covid positive cases, 60 asymptomatic positive patients and 218 patients with mild symptoms. A total of 859 tests were conducted in the ICR on the day: RAT-788, RT-PCR 64 and TrueNAT 7. 278 persons are currently under home isolation in the ICR, 13 at CCC Lekhi, 6 at DCHC Midpu and 24 at DCH Chimpu. At DCH Pasighat there are currently 2 patients and at DCHC 27.
