Itanagar, Dec 2: Continuing the tradition of celebrating the State Foundation Day of the States of India, the Raj Bhavan, Itanagar celebrated the State Foundation Day of Assam, Jharkhand and Nagaland on December 2. The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) and the First Lady of the State Smt Anagha Parnaik participated in the programme along with people of Assam, Jharkhand and Nagaland who are serving in the State.
The Governor said that the celebration, organized with the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ is one of the best and innovative programme initiated of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He said that the programme promotes goodwill and amity and strengthens the spirit of unity amongst the people.
The Governor said that these celebrations provide a platform to the people serving in Arunachal Pradesh to showcase their cultural heritage and at the same time give exposure to the people of the State to see the cultural diversity of the nation. He called for more participation and regular observation of these events.
The Governor expressed gratitude to the people from other States for their contributions in the developmental progress of Arunachal Pradesh. He said that all Arunachalis acknowledge their contributions and hold their association in high esteem.
On the special occasion, the Governor highlighted the rich history, involvement in the freedom movement, revitalization of social reforms and contributions towards nation-building of the States of Assam, Jharkhand and Nagaland. He remembered Lachit Borphukan and Birsa Munda amongst many others along with the specialty of each State.
The enthusiastic participants from the three states presented the Bhor Tal Dance, Ras Nritya and Bihu of Assam, Jhumar dance of Jharkhand, and the folk song of Nagaland.
The students from Oju Mission School participated in the programme as special guests of the Governor and the First Lady of the State.
The Governor and the First Lady of the State interacted with the participants over a High Tea. They shared their experiences with the Governor and thanked the Governor for organizing the event. The participants also expressed their gratitude to the State and its people for maintaining the brotherhood and camaraderie.
As a token of goodwill gesture and promoting Assamese culture, the Assam representatives presented ‘Pitha’ to the participants and special guests during the High Tea.
