SHILLONG, Jun 23: The city police on Friday has traced the whereabouts of a 55-year-old man from Arunachal Pradesh who went missing from a lodge near NEIGRIHMS since June 20.

The man identified as Iken Bagra, (55) employed in Forest Department, Govt of AP came to Shillong with his wife for treatment at NEIGRIHMS and was staying at a rented house at Mawpat.

According to the Superintendent of Police EKH, Davis Marak, Bagra moved out from his house at 2.30 pm on Tuesday and told his wife he was going to buy something from a nearby shop. He however, never returned home.

“He was found by the local people from the forest areas in Mawkhanu (Shillong bye-pass road) at 9 am this morning,” said the SP.

Following his disappearance, a search operation was launched by local Police of Mawdiangdiang Outpost and Nongmynsong Outpost.

“He was found roaming around. No harm has been caused to him. He was conscious when the police found him but is unaware of the events that had transpired and does not know why he had went all the way there,” Marak said.

When asked whether the man has any history of mental instability, Marak said that it is possible since he came to Shillong to consult a neurologist.

On the day he went missing, students of NEIGRIHMS had carried out a search party but he could not be traced.

Bagra was later handed over to the police of Nongmynsong Outpost and will be soon be handed over to the family members after all the formalities is completed.
