ITANAGAR, Jun 19:Army troops at Bhalukpong today rescued about 200 civilians from a landslide site. The people were stranded for over 10 hours in their vehicles some 7 kilometres from Bhalukpong towards Sessa.
The rescued group included nearly 70 women and about 50 children.
The company commander of the Army Company at the spot, along with medical officer, 2 JCOs, 20 other ranks rushed to the spot to carry out the rescue operation.
hey were able to take the stranded civilians out of the danger area at around 9 am today.
By 11 am all the people were evacuated to safety. They were given necessary medicines and food. Meanwhile, the Border Roads personnel are working towards clearing the roadways.
