SEPPA, Jan 21: Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) Chairperson Radhilu Chai Techi has called for equal birth rights of daughters to inherit family property. 
Chai asserted the demand today while attending a one-day legal awareness programme on issues faced by women here at the Ane Donyi Nyile Namlo. The event was organised by the Women’s Welfare Organisation (WWO), East Kameng in collaboration with APSCW. Along with this, the APSCW Chairperson advocated for more reservation of women in government jobs. “The state government should also enhance the reservation of women in Panchayati Raj Institutions from 33 % to 50 %,” she added. Terming polygamy as one of the main reasons for domestic violence, she expressed concern over the rapid increase in drug abuse among youths in the state.
Resource Persons, Advocate Rumita Taku and DTC-SISD, ArSRLM Raju Tamang Gishing spoke on economic power and skill development for women. APSCW member Techi Humnai and its legal adviser Advocate Kamu Chotten spoke on issues concerning domestic violence, compulsory marriage registration and free legal aid. 
Among others, East Kameng ADC Likha Teji, Bameng ADC Tungge Loya, EKSWCO executive members, NGOs, SHGs and women groups were present on the occasion.
