ITANAGAR, May 22: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee has demanded White Paper on the issue of religious census conducted by the present BJP state government in Arunachal Pradesh especially in the district of East Kameng through law enforcing authority i.e Superintendent of Police of East Kameng District asking the religious leaders and churches of the district to furnish biometric data of Christian believers.

Unfortunately in a mocking statement, the government spokesperson is citing the whole episode as ‘Routine exercise’   of security branch is nothing but to conceal their misdeed. The hidden agenda of BJP to suppress the religious minority group has been exposed and if not contained at this stage then there will be a social upheaval, the APCC said in a release today.

Mr. Felix, being an orthodox Christian believer should not be a scapegoat of the internal exercise of RSS to mitigate their Hindutva agenda. Apart from that such forceful conduct of census only on one religious minority group is fishy, it further added.

While casting aspersion on the role of government, the APCC said, welfare government cannot be a tool of communal forces to persecute people and any attempt to achieve their hidden agenda through coercive means shall not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Further the APCC sought religious minority groups to stand against religious intolerance and join hands in the democratic movement to safeguard the religious minorities group and Constitution of India.
