ITANAGAR, Nov 29: The All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) apex body, led by its president Jamru Ruja, today served a strong warning to the state government, issuing a 15-day ultimatum to resolve the long-pending land compensation controversies surrounding the Lada–Sarli Frontier Highway Project.
Addressing a press conference in Itanagar, President ANYA Jamru Ruja expressed deep anguish over what he termed as the government’s “consistent indifference” despite repeated appeals, foot march by its East Kameng Unit, and peaceful democratic movements by affected families.
He further asserted that the issue has been raised repeatedly by the East Kameng unit of ANYA through written representations, protest marches, a Pad Yatra from Seppa to Itanagar, and a five-day dharna at Tennis Court, yet the government has failed to act on glaring irregularities and the distress of genuine beneficiaries. The association accused the authorities of allowing corruption and mismanagement to persist in the project, particularly in the areas of land verification and financial transparency.
Ruja stated that the apex body has now stepped in to ensure justice and accountability after observing the prolonged silence of the government.
ANYA demanded immediate re-verification of the Lada–Sarli highway packages, recovery of misused funds siphoned off through alleged false billing, timely handover of the project to the implementing agency, strict action against all officials involved in irregularities, and urgent compensation to deprived landowners. He warned that if the government fails to respond within 15 days, ANYA will be left with no choice but to enforce a 12-hour statewide bandh as part of its democratic course of action.
Calling the situation unacceptable, Jamru Ruja stressed that the Frontier Highway is a critical project for the region’s development and must not be derailed by corruption and administrative negligence. He urged the government to act promptly to restore public faith and deliver justice to the affected communities.
