ITANAGAR, Dec 15: ‘Arunachal is a beautiful place with great people but sadly government has failed to provide efficient facilities,’ observed veteran social activist Kisan Baburao Hazare popularly known as ‘Anna Hazare’ who is here at Itanagar for his Satyagrah Movement for implementation of Lokpal & Lokayukta Bill and anti corruption rally on Saturday at the Tennis court.
Addressing media persons at a city based hotel, Anna pointed out his first impressions on his maiden visit to the state. The 80 year old activist candidly pointed out electric poles missing bulbs and a city lacking drainage system.
‘Government should develop this beautiful state, as government is for the service of the people not for making money out of their chair,’ he asserted.
Anna Hazare also slammed the NDA government for the delay in appointing Lokpal even after three years in power and threatened another round of agitation in New Delhi from March 2018.
‘Both Congress and BJP have betrayed the citizens of India who were assured of Lokpal and Lokayukta,’ he said.
‘Moreover, NDA government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has revoked Article 44 of Lokpal Bill. As per the Article, every public servant shall file declaration, information and annual returns pertaining to his assets and liabilities as well as of his spouse and dependent children,’ he informed.
‘Revocation of Article 44 means paving a way for corrupted officers to continue doing the same,’ the said.
The crusader of the 2011 India Against Corruption movement fame, Hazare further informed that the andolan for full implementation of Lokpal and Lokayukta will continue with a mass peaceful dharna in Jantar Mantar on March 23, 2018 and his visit to the state is part of the process to raise awareness among people about its importance.
