ITANAGAR, Apr 7:The Chief Minister’s bungalow which gained notoriety for its “bad vibes” and “supernatural activities” was officially converted into State Guest House on Friday with its inaugural ceremony held today amid prayers and blessings from religious preachers invited to remove the bad omen attached with the bungalow.

Despite Science making rapid progress in our lives the state government has reportedly invited hordes of religious men to rid the bungalow of the “bad spirits”.

However, supervising the ceremonial procedure on the day, Minister for Town Planning and Urban Development, Nabam Rebia who was with the Chief Secretary, Shakuntala Gamlin, said “I don’t believe in superstition or rituals and have always discouraged any such practices in my personal life too.”

Terming the “paranormal activity” a man-made psychosis and superstitious belief of the people, Rebia said “I'm really wondering how society has come to this point that such things exists in this world.”

Maintaining that the ceremonial procedure conducted during the inauguration was not a ritual to thwart evil forces surrounding the bungalow, Rebia said the rituals being performed was just a part of formalities which every individual do before opening of their homes or others to bring good luck and prosperity.

Furthermore, Rebia hoped that the blessing of all religious leaders will help to remove the misconceptions about bungalow among the public.

Supervising the ceremony, Chief Secretary, Shakuntala Gamlin said that the inauguration of the state’s most luxurious guest house would cater to the needs of the public in days to come and hoped that the infrastructure  would become another landmark in taking the prestige and glory of the state to the next level. The guest house will be also be used as a training centre for civil service officers, the CS disclosed.

Located at the hill-top of Niti Vihar is the sprawling CM bungalow, undisputed in terms of its generous design and grandeur. The  construction started during 2007-08 and was completed in the year 2009-10 with an estimated cost of Rs 59.55 crore during the regime of late former Chief Minister, Dorjee Khandu.

The state-of-art Chief Minister’s bungalow has been tagged as ‘haunted bungalow” by various quarters after former CM late Kalikho Pul allegedly committed suicide on August 9 last year.

That’s when the spooky experiences began to manifest themselves. After Pul’s demise, the nearby places surrounding the bungalow reportedly witnessed number of suicides and strange activities doing the rounds prompting speculation.

The death of a staffer of the CM bungalow, who was found hanging from the ceiling of an adjoining room two months after Pul took his own life, was followed by few more cases of suicides in the vicinity. Moreover on few occasions the public living nearby have also reported frequent “paranormal activities” in the area.

Such unexpected events within the premises of the CM bungalow has created fear psychosis not only among the nearby residents but has also affected politicians, including present Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

Khandu who succeeded Pul as Chief Minister, abandoned the lavish residence and is staying at his private residence located at E-Sector.

It is to be mentioned here that few former chief ministers, who had lived there met an untimely death.
