TEZU, Apr 6: Discontinuation of teachers recruited on temporary basis under Chief Minister Samast Shiksha Yojana (CMSSY) in important subjects such as Science, Maths, English, Hindi and Social Science has adversely affected the education scenario of Lohit district.
The said teachers numbering 20 were appointed for a two-month tenure in January this year for February and March classes to fill up the shortage of teachers after the Central government extended the annual examination schedule to May 2021 due to COVID-19. However, at a time when the annual examination is approaching, the non-renewal of services has created difficulty for the students. When contacted for details, sources at the DDSE office informed that CMSSY was put in effect temporarily for two months and as per contract, the engagement period has expired in March. “It is unfortunate that with two more months of academic session still left, the termination has been made. Government Higher Secondary School, Jeko is the most affected as the supply of English teachers both PGT and TGT has been managed under CMSSY and for Science and Maths, the educational scenario of entire Lohit has been badly affected,” the source added.
CMSSY was launched in the state from April 1, 2018 which is a fully-funded scheme of the state government for providing flexibility to the District Administration to hire teachers temporarily to fill up vacancies in Science and Mathematics in government schools.
